palms

a sign of love
in a few simple branches
laid out before you
only to be taken away

your arms outstretched
a sign of love
nailed to a cross
to take away my sins

then you returned
reaching out your hand
a sign of love
for me to take hold of

so here are my hands
that have taken so much
offering it all back to you
a sign of love

Wow - so did you write that? Amazing! The church I go to here (not Methodist) did not celebrate Palm Sunday. BUT - on my way to church - I did see hundreds of people gathered in a park-type place with palms...pretty cool! I love you!

yesterday before the church service, they xeroxed our hands as part of an illustration. i was inspired by the fact that shadow cast in the middle of my hand resembled a heart. instead of a sermon, there were a number of stations we were invited to experience including communion, confession, and meditation. i took that time to write this.
